BETTER NORTH ARLINGTON THROUGH BEAUTIFICATION

A Better North Arlington through Beautification Programs that increase Property Values!

Candidate Yampaglia Calls for more Pocket Parks, a Permanent Farmer’s Market, Community Gardens & Dog Parks for NA!

Mark Yampaglia as Mayor plans beautification project to improve North ArlingtonContinuing a bold initiative to beautify North Arlington through a series of public improvements, Democratic Mayoral candidate Mark Yampaglia is proposing a series of public investments that “beautify while raising property values all at the same time.”

“My vision for a better, stronger and value-added North Arlington has been resonating in my door to door campaign as residents believe in many ways NA needs a facelift of sorts. By initiating a series of public works proposals we can maintain and enhance our suburban lifestyle and overall appeal as a place people want to buy a home, raise a family and become part of our community’s fabric,” offered Yampaglia, an attorney in private practice with an office in Rutherford.

Yampaglia has identified several proposals that will beautify the community at a cost that in the end will pay for itself.

“Homeowners need to see a definitive reinvestment in our infrastructure. Yes we need to pave streets, fix curbs and clean catch basins, but we need to do more. We need to create a great community pride by offering amenities other communities do not enjoy,” offered the four-term council member.

POCKET PARKS

Part of the beautification plan is pocket parks to create green space

Yampaglia believes open space needs to be dedicated to pocket parks that “create green space” while complimenting our main streets and neighborhoods.

“The area under the high tension wires is one consideration that needs to be further examined. Safety always needs to come first, but that area that weaves thru North Arlington is something I would like to consider, especially along Sixth Street across from Fisher Field. Maybe we can expand that park to include more space along Sixth,” said the NA Democrat.

“I want to examine all borough-owned property and examine the potential be it along River Road or other locations. Pocket parks make sense for North Arlington.”

FARMER’S MARKET

A local farmers market would form a location for community activities and create community pride

Yampaglia want to investigate the sighting of a Farmer’s Market either behind Borough Hall or in possible cooperation with the North Arlington Board of Education during the spring, summer and early fall seasons.

“A Farmer’s Market brings people together. It becomes a place to shop and meet your fellow neighbors. Community pride increases and this venue becomes a venue for community activity. It keeps our shopping dollars in North Arlington,” observed Yampaglia.

“This could become a learning opportunity for children as well as great venue for seniors. I think this kind of idea will be easy to implement on a bipartisan basis.”

COMMUNITY GARDENS

Community garden another location to bring the community together

Yampaglia believes there is great community interest in creating numerous community gardens for residents that again offer something many municipalities do not.

“Many residents have a green thumb and this again is another opportunity to bring people with common interests together. People of all ages love to garden as well as growing vegetables and fruit such as tomatoes for example,” said the Democratic Mayoral hopeful.

Yampaglia believes this kind of activity can be again in cooperation with our local school district.

“Should I win, I will make a formal presentation to the Governing Body as well as to school officials to gauge interest and input.”

DOG PARKS

Dog park

Yampaglia believes a Dog Park makes sense and that such a locale will be popular with pet lovers of all ages.

“Wouldn’t it be fun for dog owners to throw a ball and have their pet meet other dogs in the community? The location would be critical and we could have benches, mulch and have the venue fenced or possibly illuminated. Again, building a consensus and getting input and advice from residents will be crucial when formulating a plan of action that residents will embrace.”

“It’s the little things that count. These are items and ideas that will take a minimal amount of investment while yielding a tremendous response from homeowners who view this kind of initiative as increasing home values in a serious way. We’re a small town and preserving and protecting that image we worked so hard to build needs to be maintained and that’s why I believe keeping North Arlington small, safe and suburban is more than just a slogan, but a valid description of a South Bergen community that is attractive and appealing for those who live here and those who want to be a part of North Arlington.”

A SPIRIT OF VOLUNTEERISM

Yampaglia believes these kinds of initiatives gets people excited about living and working in North Arlington and builds a volunteer network of inspired citizens who want to make North Arlington even better.

“Small towns survive on volunteer public service. We have a volunteer Emergency Squad as well as our Fire Department. We have volunteer coaches and others who make North Arlington special. I believe these initiatives if enacted will further prime that pump and further increases local participation and pride. That is something we can all get behind as this campaign tries to unify North Arlington through serious public policy proposals that are positive and win-win,” said the life-long resident and NAHS graduate.
