Freeholder Steve Tanelli and Councilman Mark Yampaglia visiting local residents.North Arlington – Bergen County Freeholder Steve Tanelli (D-North Arlington) and Councilman Mark Yampaglia, the Democratic nominee for mayor spent several hours this past weekend going door to door and mining for votes.

Tanelli, seeking a third term on the Board of Freeholders had previously run with Yampaglia for Borough Council in 2005, 2008 and 2011 – all successful efforts!

Tanelli is the first Democrat from North Arlington to serve at the county level and just the third to serve as a freeholder. Former North Arlington Mayor Bill McDowell had served as a county freeholder, sheriff and the first county executive in 1987.

No other Bergen community of the 70 municipalities can make the same claim.

“For a small town, North Arlington has demonstrated political clout when compared to communities much larger in population and size,” noted one Bergen County political observer when asked to comment.

Yampaglia, who has been appointed twice and elected four times locally (2005, 2008, 2011 and 2016), is the Borough’s ranking member of the North Arlington Mayor & Council. He is running with former Mayor and BCUA Commissioner Peter Massa and private sector Mark Yampaglia seeks to be the next Mayor of North Arlington.CFO Josie Papile, a graduate of NAHS and Arlington Boulevard homeowner.

“I am humbled by Freeholder Tanelli’s support, advice and counsel. I look forward to translating that support to serious public policy partnerships with Bergen County so that we may examine the construction of a Passaic River walking and bike path,” offered Yampaglia who is a local attorney with an office in Rutherford.

“The response has been excellent. Voters are gratified we’re making this effort over the summer to discuss the issues important to NA tenants and homeowners. Property Taxes remain a strong concern as Mark Yampaglia stands on a platform that seeks to improve North Arlington.well as the future of the QPHS property.”

Yampaglia, who is challenging first-term incumbent Joe Bianchi has offered an extensive platform for NA voters to consider:

* Elimination of parking meters along Ridge Road
* A permanent Farmer’s Market
* Renovation of the North Arlington Senior Center
* Improved working relationship with parents, students and school officials
* Improved pocket parks and the construction of a bike and walking path along the Passaic River from Riverside Park to the Arlington Diner

Yampaglia as NA Mayor has the assistance of Tanelli to achieve the goals set forth.Both Tanelli and Yampaglia look forward to working together for a better North Arlington.
