DEMOCRATS BALWIERCZAK & SEVER UNVEIL PLATFORM!

Ending rolling tax reassessments, wasteful spending while offering capital investment for a better North Arlington can only occur with responsible two-party government.

North Arlington seeks solutions, cooperation and consensus and that can only happen with a healthy mix of Democrats & Republicans seated on the Borough Council.

NORTH ARLINGTON – Describing their platform as a “value-based” agenda that will keep North Arlington small, safe and suburban, Democrats John Balwierczak and Cengiz “Jim” Sever want to protect taxpayers from needless tax increases while offering capital investment that will keep the community an attractive place to raise a family while remaining affordable.

“North Arlington has a healthy mix of homeowners, tenants and seniors and we need to offer a vision that keeps us small, safe and suburban. Smart development versus massive overdevelopment is a priority while protecting homeowners from needless rolling reassessments that are crippling our tax base,” offered the candidates.

“We are on the side of homeowners and will be a voice for taxpayers.”

“We are the only ticket in this race offering a real plan, a direction that makes sense for North Arlington regardless if you just moved here or have been a resident for decades.”

A 9-Point Plan for a better North Arlington:

– End “random reassessments” that are raising property taxes in a process that is unfair and not equitable. Democrats will revert back to a more traditional and reasonable process in which reassessments will occur every 5 to 7 years.

– A moratorium on all apartment construction along Ridge Road that will end the increased traffic and density that is decreasing residential parking and urbanizing North Arlington.

– Stop wasteful spending and seek resident input on major expenditures such as this “mystery” out-of-court settlement of $200,000, excessive legal fees and so-called emergency appropriations that are now in the millions of dollars!

 – End this partisan assault on the North Arlington Board of Education by our opponents and work with the BOE on projects and purposes of mutual concern. Politics has no place in public education.

– Develop a long-range strategic plan with our county, state and federal partners to construct a walking and bike path from the Arlington Diner ending due north at Riverside County Park.

– The implementation of a seasonal Farmer’s Market from May 1st to September 30th managed by private contractors so that it becomes a meeting place for residents while keeping commerce in North Arlington.

– Construction of “parklets and bike lanes” along Ridge Road. The construction of a dog park in an appropriate venue with resident input and approval.

– Renovation and rehabilitation of the Senior Center and construction of a fully functional Recreation facility that would be available to children between the ages of 7-17. We would host a Town Hall for resident advice and input regarding a site location and cost.

– No more annual pay hikes for part-time elected officials.

“These are items that have broad support with voters based on the feedback we have received in our door-to-door canvassing. We want to bring North Arlington together so that all segments of the community feel welcome and part of the decision-making process,” offered both Balwierczak and Sever.
