NA DEMOCRATS TO MEET WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19TH

Reorganization of Municipal Committee, filling of vacancies, council candidates to recap fundraiser and status of canvassing, Post Office tabling this summer

NORTH ARLINGTON – The Democratic Municipal Committee of North Arlington will reorganize for the 2024-25 cycle and the meeting will be held Wednesday, June 19th at the Arlington Diner located at the intersection of the Belleville Turnpike and 1 River Road beginning at 7:00 PM and all registered Democrats of the community are invited to attend.

Longtime Municipal Chairman Nick Antonicello will preside and light refreshments will be served.

The committee will elect a new chairman and Antonicello is expected to seek reelection.

The retired labor leader and US Army veteran is the longest serving chairman of the NA Democrats. A former member of the Bergen County Utilities Authority (BCUA), Antonicello has served the community on the Planning, Zoning and Library board’s and was responsible for the renovation of that facility. Antonicello currently serves the state as a member of the New Jersey Senate President for the last 15 years.

The committee will fill some vacancies and council candidates John Balwierczak and John Yampaglia will discuss the current status of their canvassing efforts as well as weekly tabling at the Post Office on Ridge Park Drive. The candidates will also offer their schedule this summer as well as a report on their first fundraiser of the campaign.

Democrats commented on the Borough’s attempt to remove a sign from the home of candidate Balwierczak promoting the two Democratic hopefuls.

“Apparently certain Borough officials don’t know the law and drastic steps are being considered to remove my right to express myself on my home. These people hate democracy. This is the kind of nonsense that takes place in Cuba, China or North Korea. That sign stays,” offered the candidate.

“If you needed a single reason to reject this kind of one-party, machine style politics that shits on our local democracy, this is it,” offered the former Republican and longtime borough resident who resides with his widowed Mother.

“We lost my father last fall and I’m dedicating this race to his memory. I’m not going to be intimidated by political supporters of Fitzhenry and Sheedy. This is an emotional Father’s Day weekend as it’s the first without my Dad. I just wonder how low will the opposition go to get to the bottom of the proverbial political cesspool and we haven’t even reached summer! We will keep our head down and not be distracted by bureaucratic foolishness. Is this what the Building Department is concerned about? My constitutional right and expression of free speech? Who is really behind this? It’s gutter politics pulled from the bottom of the barrel,” offered the candidate.

Both Balwierczak and Yampaglia have been canvassing the community for nearly a year while the embedded GOP locals have been virtually invisible and hiding behind phantom propagandists online.
