BALWIERCZAK, YAMPAGLIA IN FINAL STRETCH TO DETHRONE INCUMBENTS FITZHENRY & SHEEDY!

Democrats continue door to door search for votes as local GOP tries to squelch the challengers in a race to bring back two-party government!

Massive overdevelopment, lack of parking and higher property taxes remain the issues with NA voters!

No one takes “senior shoe box” apartments seriously!

NORTH ARLINGTON – Democrats John Balwierczak and John Yampaglia keep their campaign to oust Republicans Brian Fitzhenry and Allison Sheedy in high gear as they have now walked another neighborhood Friday evening.

The Democrats believe their platform and agenda is resonating as voters view the following issues as most important:

The proliferation of apartment housing on Ridge Road

Massive overdevelopment spreading to River Road, Schuyler Avenue and the Belleville Turnpike

The lack of residential street parking that has people searching for a spot after a hard day’s work

Both challengers are encouraged by the reception they receive at the doors of residents and the backlash to the negative campaign being conducted by the incumbents and Mayor Dan Pronti, who isn’t even on the ballot.

Democrats believe Pronti has displayed his true colors in a campaign where he is trying to urbanize North Arlington into an extension of Hudson County, the original home of the full time real estate agent and part-time politician.

“There’s nothing about Pronti that is truly NA. He is an apologist for more housing nobody wants and he lied that overdevelopment would stabilize property taxes. He has no roots in North Arlington. No one will mistake Dan Pronti for Joe Bianchi, Pete Massa or Len Kaiser,” observed Balwierczak.

“Pronti is a real estate agent first and our mayor last. He is in bed with out-of-town real estate interests that want to construct even more apartments. Fitzhenry and Sheedy lack the courage or character to tell Pronti no,” offered John Balwierczak, the Chestnut Street resident and former Republican who became a Democrat to oppose the overdevelopment practices of the all-Republican Mayor and Council.

Democrats contend the incumbents will continue to be “yes” votes for overdevelopment and higher property taxes.

“They have not addressed the only issue in this campaign and that’s their record of urbanizing NA into an extension of Hudson County. They reject the notion of North Arlington remaining small, safe and suburban. They are trying to scam seniors with forty shoe box apartments in a flood zone. In ten years on the council Fitzhenry & Sheedy have accomplished nothing but awarding themselves with fat raises four years in a row. Fitzhenry has raised property taxes more than any elected official that has served on the Borough Council and Board of Education while Sheedy is a dual-job holding double dipper,” charged Balwierczak.

The Democrats continue to push for a moratorium on all new apartment construction, a plan to address traffic congestion and offer permit parking for residents moving forward.

“We have a plan to fix the failures of this massive overdevelopment and higher property taxes no one supports. Fitzhenry and Sheedy have had a decade to fix our problems and they have made things worse. Elect the North Arlington First Team. We will keep North Arlington small, safe and suburban,” offered the candidates.

Meet both Balwierczak and Yampaglia on Wednesday, October 30th at the Arlington Diner for a meet and greet beginning at 7:00 pm and light refreshments will be served.
