DON’T DEMOCRATS & INDEPENDENTS LIST & PURCHASE HOMES IN NORTH ARLINGTON TOO?

DON’T DEMOCRATS & INDEPENDENTS LIST & PURCHASE HOMES IN NORTH ARLINGTON TOO?

Why would a real estate agency located in Lyndhurst take sides in a political contest in NA?

Democrats describe current GOP overdevelopment worse then the failed EnCap housing scheme!

NORTH ARLNGTON – Century 21 Semiao & Associates www.century21semiao.com has proudly placed a partisan political sign in front of their business promoting the North Arlington Mayor as well as his hand-picked candidates, Brian Fitzhenry and Allison Sheedy.

It is strange to see a business or franchise that historically does not engage in endorsing candidates make it known to all they prefer one political party over another.

After further review, the North Arlington Mayor is a real estate agent and hangs his license with Century 21 as well as a member of the Borough Council!

But to Democrats John Balwierczak and John Yampaglia, nothing surprises them.

“Do you need any more proof or evidence that our opponents in this race are backed lock, stock and barrel by out-of-town real estate interests, developers, builders, contractors and alike that are financially fueling the effort of both Brian and Allison? Is it really surprising that we have witnessed an explosion of apartment dwellings along Ridge Road with hundreds more online for Schuyler Avenue and River Road? We now know more apartments will be built right across from Charlie’s Nursery (see image), as well as multiple locations throughout the Borough of North Arlington. Our Planning Board has become a rubber stamp for increased density, urbanization, decreased residential street parking and increased traffic along Ridge Road. This urbanization of North Arlington is turning us into Belleville. North Arlington doesn’t want to become a city, North Arlington wants to remain the gateway to Bergen County. It wants to remain small, safe and suburban,” offered the challengers.

Democrats are gaining momentum and support as this massive overdevelopment of Ridge Road is evident and obvious and the only real issue in this 2024 race for Borough Council.

Currently Republicans dominate all seven seats and no Democrat has served since 2019, some 5 years ago.

That needs to change Tuesday, November 5th.

“Any business is free to endorse who they choose. But don’t Democrats and Independents list and purchase homes in North Arlington? Why would you chance offending some people with a sign like that? To me, the North Arlington GOP is dominated by real estate interests. All you need to do is take a walk along Ridge Road. This is the biggest issue since the days of the failed housing scheme known as EnCap. You have former EnCap apologists and out-of-town Republicans having a real say in future redevelopment that in reality is just blatant overdevelopment,” offered John Balwierczak, a first time candidate and former Republican who switched parties to protect North Arlington’s core community values of remaining small, safe and suburban.

“Enough is enough. People are angry and rightly so.”

“The change we need is to break this Republican monopoly and bring back responsible two-party government to North Arlington. Ridge Road is now and extension of Hudson County and what will be the fate of MELRAYS or Boston Market? We need political balance and a new set of eyes for homeowners and tenants alike.”

You can meet the candidates on Sunday, September 22nd at a fundraiser and tickets are just $50 per person and you can pay at the door.

To RSVP for location and details call (201) 655-8497.

The Democrats table every Saturday at the North Arlington Post Office from 9 am to 12 noon, located at Ridge Park Drive and you can register to vote, pick-up a lawn sign or participate in the community survey.
