PROMISES TO CUT PROPERTY TAXES IN SUBURBAN MUNICIPALTIES LIKE NORTH ARLINGTON!
Congressman Josh Gottheimer committed to cutting property taxes in North Arlington and the rest of New Jersey.
Congressman Josh Gottheimer has proposed several initiatives aimed at reducing property taxes in New Jersey. In January 2025, he introduced bipartisan legislation to fully restore the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction, which had been limited to $10,000 by the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Restoring this deduction could provide significant tax relief for many New Jersey residents.
Additionally, as part of his gubernatorial campaign, Gottheimer unveiled a comprehensive tax plan that includes measures to lower property taxes by nearly 15%. This plan involves promoting more efficient government operations and attracting businesses to the state, aiming to reduce the financial burden on homeowners without compromising essential services.
Furthermore, in July 2023, Gottheimer praised the enactment of the “StayNJ” tax credit program, which offers substantial property tax reductions for seniors, encouraging them to remain in the state.
While these efforts demonstrate Gottheimer’s commitment to addressing property tax concerns, it’s important to note that property taxes in New Jersey are primarily levied by local governments. Therefore, achieving significant reductions would require collaboration with state and local officials, as well as careful fiscal planning to ensure that essential public services are maintained.
