Balwierczak & Yampaglia intensify door-to-door canvassing in campaign’s final stretch.
Rampant Overdevelopment denied by Fitzhenry & Sheedy. Who are they trying to fool?
NORTH ARLINGTON – With the issues on their side and the wind to their backs, the council campaign of John Balwierczak and John Yampaglia had a small and intimate gathering of supporters Sunday evening as they feasted on homestyle buffet catered by Arlington Pizza to the delight of those in attendance. 
The two candidates outlined their plans for the final six weeks as they were not surprised that their opponents continue to attempt to explain away their record of rampant overdevelopment and higher property taxes.
In reading the GOP mailing describing themselves as “non-partisan,” the Democrats were amused by the avoidance of the record or the only issue in this campaign, GOP overdevelopment.
“They refuse to offer any reason for the hundreds of apartments they have constructed and continue to build and endorse. Do they not understand just how upset the community has become? How can you send out a flyer that doesn’t mention, defend or explain this plethora of apartment construction with hundreds more on the way? It is to deny reality,” offered candidate John Balwierczak, a former Republican who became a Democrat over the issue of urbanizing NA into an extension of Hudson County.
“We are life-long NA residents. We both attended local schools and graduated from North Arlington High School. To try to paint us as outsiders is indeed disturbing. What’s more disturbing is that they refuse to acknowledge the conditions created on Ridge Road and this allegiance to builders and developers that are fueling this machine style effort,” offered the council hopefuls
The Democrats are determined to force both Fitzhenry and Sheedy to acknowledge this failed record of urbanization and gentrification.
“You serve for a decade, do nothing and then insult the voting public by refusing to take responsibility for the mess they have created? They hold every seat on the Mayor & Council and have so for five years! They have two members of the governing body who are real estate agents. One was the initial backer of EnCap with Donald Trump. When will they own up to this record? 
The Democrats stressed they are the team dedicated to keeping North Arlington small, safe and suburban.
“They can’t even uttered the phrase. They are in bed with real estate interests that are transforming NA into an extension of Hudson County and they won’t even acknowledge that truth. They believe all voters are stupid, and they can avoid the #1 issue facing the community and that’s overdevelopment caused by the incumbents.
