NA residents seek amenities, parking, not more apartments!

North Arlington residents continue to post online a distinct displeasure with more apartments along Ridge Road that have done nothing to provide needed tax relief which is what people demand in these difficult financial times.

Parking and traffic continue to be overriding concerns as the urbanization continues along Ridge Road, and the fate of MELRAYS, now being auctioned brings greater concerns to longtime residents as services could become overwhelmed and quality of life issues like remaining suburban are casted in doubt.

“Nobody wants Ridge to become overrun with overdevelopment like Belleville. Someone needs to tell our Mayor that copying or emulating Essex County is a bad idea,” said one resident when asked about the changes along Ridge. He preferred to remain anonymous.

Some have suggested an organic farmer’s market; an idea local Democrats ran on in 2025. While not successful, they offered voters a real agenda while the GOP really offered nothing at all worth repeating.

One-party government has some residents hesitant to make their comments and criticisms on the record.

Some believe this ill-conceived senior housing proposal apparently scheduled for River Road is a location with flooding issues and should be relocated to Ridge Road.

Local Republicans and Pronti have promised senior housing for nearly a decade.

The amount of units hardly puts a dent in the volume of residents that would potentially apply and the application process has never been explained or vetted as well as the overall cost of construction.

Here is just a sampling of residents opinion.
