NA CAMPAIGN FOR MAYOR AND COUNCIL LAUNCHES ON LABOR DAY AT THE ANNUAL RUTHERFORD STREET FAIR!
DEMOCRATIC MAYORAL HOPEFUL MARK YAMPAGLIA GREETS VOTERS, CAMPAIGNS WITH GOVERNOR PHIL MURPHY AND BERGEN COUNTY FREEHOLDER STEVE TANELLI!
RUTHERFORD – It pays to have a law office centrally located in downtown Rutherford as the neighboring South Bergen community serves as a launching pad of sorts for local, county and federal campaigns as candidates and incumbents alike descend upon the thousands of people who end the summer meeting their elected officials and those who aspire to public office.
The Rutherford Street Fair is a must campaign event for local candidates like Councilman Mark Yampaglia and his running-mates Peter Massa and Josie Papile.
“I’m fortunate to have an office in the center of things so I not only get to meet North Arlington voters, but get to assist the county organization as well,” offered Yampaglia who is seeking public office for the eighth time.
“I have knocked on thousands of doors this summer and now we reach the official start of the campaign season. I’m proud of the effort thus far and our media presence on Social Media has been effective and persuasive,” noted Yampaglia, a life-long resident and graduate of NAHS.
Yampaglia said he enjoys campaigning at events such as the street fair and gives him an opportunity to assist county and statewide Democrats.
“I had a chance to campaign with Freeholder Steve Tanelli as well as speak with Governor Phil Murphy; Democrats are very upbeat and optimistic. We have analyzed past local voting patterns and the key for us is generating a significant turnout. Democrats are very motivated to participate and vote come Election Day while the GOP seems a bit depressed based on the events coming from the White House. Locally, I believe we have a real head start on our opponents and that means they will be playing catch up,” observed Yampaglia.
Yampaglia continued to express an issue-oriented campaign that will stress new proposals, ideas and initiatives that will improve the quality of life of all North Arlington residents.
“I will be rolling out a series of policy proposals such as the renovation of the Senior Center, new pocket parks, the development of River Road in the form of a riverfront bike and walking path, a permanent Farmer’s Market and the elimination of metered parking along Ridge Road,” noted Yampaglia who believes building unity around his ideas will bring the community closer together.
New ideas and bold initiatives is what the Yampaglia campaign is all about.
“We need to solve problems such as traffic, snow removal and contain the density that is impacting North Arlington. I want to work with our public schools so that we partner in long-term goals and objectives. I believe North Arlington is a place today that we can do great things that will enhance our standing as the gateway to Bergen County while retaining the notion of remaining small, safe and suburban,” noted the Democratic challenger.
Redevelopment and the borough’s future relationship with the Archdiocese of Newark will be priorities in a Yampaglia Administration.
“I want to work with our legislative partners to develop a PILOT (payments in lieu of taxes) program that is a “win-win” for North Arlington. I want to create targeted redevelopment opportunities on Schuyler Avenue and Ridge Road that enhances those areas with a mix of residential that emphasizes home ownership versus a plethora of high density rental units. The future of North Arlington must be strategically managed with a plan that has community support,” offered Yampaglia, a local attorney.
So what is next for the campaign?
“Walking door to door is critical. I need to pick up the pace so we meet those objectives. Greeting voters at the Post Office, raising money and delivering our platform to voters through our direct mail efforts. I believe I have outworked my opponents at this stage and we have about 60 days to go so we’re at the top of the stretch and looking forward to an upset win come election day,” said the four-term Councilman and ranking member.
