Sweeney is arguably the most powerful New Jersey state legislator and labor leader. Antonicello has served as Democratic Chairman for 20 years and is a retired Steelworker, and former president of Local 2262 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME – AFL-CIO) where he represented hundreds of non-instructional personnel employed by the Jersey City Board of Education.
