REAL CHOICE FOR NORTH ARLINGTON VOTERS: 22-YEAR OLD INFORMATION SYSTEMS PROFESSIONAL JOINS MAYORAL CANDIDATE FATHER AS 2022 BOROUGH COUNCIL CANDIDATE
NORTH ARLINGTON – Kerim Sever, a resident of North Arlington since the age of 4, is joining his father Cengiz Sever on a ticket to challenge the all-Republican Mayor and Council. Real and effective choices are provided for North Arlington voters in the 2022 Election.
Kerim is seeking a three-term on the council while his Dad is challenging Republican incumbent Dan Pronti for the office of Mayor. Pronti is seeking reelection after winning four years ago.
The 2022 graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Information Systems believes the community needs younger individuals represented on the governing body as well as responsible two-party government.
Currently, Republicans control all the levers of local government with six seats on the Borough Council as well as the office of Mayor.
No Democrat has been elected since 2016 and served since 2020 and there are some 2,500 unrepresented Democrats here in North Arlington.
Computer Systems Expertise Will Benefit the Borough Enormously- And Smartly Save Your Tax Dollars
Sever, a 22-year old Associate Data Engineer with 32 BJ Funds in Manhattan handles high level stored procedures and processes for data automation. He has created error checker stored procedures and believes his background in Information Systems, Data Science, Cyber Security, Web Development, IT Solutions and Software Development will be an important skill set he can share with the local government. Undoubtedly, Sever’s expertise would guide the Borough in choices which would save taxpayers an enormous amount of money. Furthermore, Kerim Sever would improve the technical administration of municipal services across the board.
Kerim attended North Arlington schools and currently is considering a purchase of his own home as well demonstrating his commitment to the community’s future as a public advocate for change.
A soccer player at North Arlington HS, Kerim minored in Web Systems with a specialization in Business and was a member of the Chess Club at NJIT.
Kerim worked his way through college and believes government needs to be inclusive and Democrats should have a seat at the table.
The explosive growth in values and added assessment of real property here in North Arlington accounts for no tax hikes, not any perceived “magic” by the all-Republican monopoly.
The Republicans have not had to raise Municipal Taxes for that very reason, but fail to explain the increase in the size of the Municipal Budget, as well as the increase in debt in overall spending and expenditures, telling voters just half of the financial story.
Many believe the cost of services is exploding, such as the number of employees, six-figure salaries and promotions the community has absorbed under Pronti and the Republicans over the last four years.
Why Not Keep Tax Dollars Here in the Borough?
North Arlington Voters are upset that no locals are considered for such important positions like being members of the North Arlington Police Department, seemingly reserved for out-of-towner’s from Paterson and Passaic County thanks to Dan Pronti.
More importantly, there seems to be a lack of transparency regarding the renovation of Borough Hall as many believe the work to be unnecessary and extravagant and the decision by Pronti and the entire Borough Council to award themselves raises to attend one meeting per month as fiscally unaccountable! Some say the renovations are plagued in cost overruns and delays in construction. Others also believe the decision to further “urbanize” Ridge Road has backfired as essential services are being stretched to accommodate new residents and is making North Arlington an extension of Harrison and Hudson County.
The Sever’s believe North Arlington should remain the gateway of Bergen County and promote the notion of being small, safe and suburban!
The Sever Democratic Team wants to add dialogue, debate and full disclosure to the municipal process and that can only occur when Democrats as well as Republicans are sharing the resigns of government responsibly and equally.

“We’re very proud to have Kerim and his Dad as candidates for public office. Kerim brings a very unique skill set to governance in the area of Flask Login Applications, Library Management Systems, Marketing Research, Data Mining and Website Development. These are professional technology skills no one on the current Mayor & Council possess. He would be an added asset to North Arlington residents in offering a new perspective on how best to represent the voting public. Kerim is without question a very qualified business professional North Arlington needs today,” said longtime Democratic leader, Nick Antonicello.
