REPUBLICAN REASSESSMENTS HAVE RESIDENTS UP IN ARMS!
Property taxes rising despite rolling reassessments, Mayor arrogantly proclaims, “we will not stop being reassessed each year.”
NORTH ARLINGTON – As long as Republicans rule the roost, rolling tax reassessments are not going anywhere according to Mayor Dan Pronti (R) in an exchange with a local homeowner online.
In the same post, Pronti claims that “our municipal taxes have not gone up” on the average household since 2017, when this practice was first Implemented.
But despite these claims of no tax increases, why are so many homeowners upset?
Here are the Cons of Rolling Tax Assessments:
Frequent Changes: While the assessments are more accurate, they can lead to fluctuations in your tax bill year after year. This unpredictability can make it harder for homeowners to budget or plan long-term.
Potential for Higher Taxes: If property values in your area increase significantly, you may find yourself facing higher taxes as a result of the more frequent updates, which seems to be the case here in North Arlington.
Administrative Burden: Keeping assessments up to date year-round can be more expensive and labor-intensive for municipalities, which could lead to higher administrative costs or inefficiencies.
In summary, North Arlington’s history of rolling tax assessments can lead to unpredictable tax bills. The overall impact depends largely on the local real estate market trends and how much property values fluctuate in a specific area. If you’re in a municipality with rising property values, your taxes will go up more frequently.
Below are conversations and the general consensus North Arlington is becoming more expensive, less affordable and thus its driving out seniors and others on fixed incomes.
And because North Arlington only has Republicans on the Mayor & Council, nothing will change unless you elect others who disagree with this point-of-view.
Yes, elections do have consequences, and North Arlington will continue to experience rolling assessments, higher property taxes, massive overdevelopment, increased traffic, less parking and a sense that it is being transformed into a small city by this economic gentrification.
Below is a series of comments from NA residents who oppose this Republican policy of squeezing every penny out of homeowners every year!
There are no Democrats to blame. This is a Republican inspired policy that has few supporters.
