RUNNING OR HIDING?

RUNNING OR HIDING?

Fitzhenry, Sheedy “MIA” on campaign’s final weekend!

Balwierczak, Yampaglia cover entire community with flyer drop as Democrats sense a victory come Tuesday!

Massive overdevelopment has Republicans looking for a closet to hide!

NORTH ARLINGTON – Unable to explain away the hundreds of apartments constructed along Ridge Road with more coming after the election on River Road, Schuyler Avenue and the Belleville Turnpike, embedded incumbents Brian Fitzhenry and Allison Sheedy have apparently gone into hiding, into a political bunker far away from residents and voters who are exhausted by their housing schemes that are urbanizing North Arlington into an extension of Hudson County.

More importantly, residents and homeowners in particular are concerned about the traffic, congestion, and lack of residential street parking that threatens North Arlington’s long standing community character as being small, safe and suburban.

The Democrats began Saturday morning as they always do, at the North Arlington Post Office only to have their day disrupted by an out-of-town MAGA Republican who provoked an argument with some of the supporters of both Balwierczak and Yampaglia.

“Instead of campaigning and engaging voters, the Republicans are tearing down our signs, as we saw with the DPW and calls by the Building Department to remove the same. The strategy is not to offer voters a choice, the strategy is to eliminate the Democrats from participating. To destroy the concept of competitive elections. That the truth is what they manufacture and concoct. Our local grass roots democracy has never been threatened in this fashion by the actions of these supporters of Pronti, Fitzhenry and Sheedy,” offered candidate John Balwierczak, a Chestnut Street resident.

“Here we are engaging voters in a serious fashion and we have to contend with these disruptions that just scare and frighten residents from participating in the democratic process. These people hate democracy. They reject the idea of having to explain their record of urbanization, density, and the congestion they created along Ridge Road. They are annoyed by the prospect that we would even dare run against them. We have this real estate agent mayor who is a tool of outside housing interests with six puppets on the council that do his bidding. They don’t respect him, they fear him and his tactics. He is not from North Arlington and these policies are universally rejected by our residents. This attempt to eliminate Democrats and two-party government from the political equation is quite frankly, dangerous,” offered Balwierczak, a former Republican.

Here is a snapshot of the GOP record of both Fitzhenry and Sheedy:

The construction of hundreds of apartment dwellings along Ridge Road, with more anticipated in 2025.

The construction of more apartments along Schuyler Avenue, the Belleville Pike and River Road.

MELRAYS, Boston Market and the Italian Villa Properties remain empty, vacant and dormant, with the prospect of even more apartments on the drawing board.

The North Arlington Republican Club on Ridge Road is owned by a developer who has proposed 24 units at that very location! The developer has contributed $1,000 to the campaign of Fitzhenry and Sheedy creating a potential conflict of interest between the developer and members of the Borough Council.

Fitzhenry and Sheedy have never recorded a “no” vote on the issue of massive overdevelopment ever, they are complete political pawns of Pronti, the real estate agent mayor.

“They can run, but they cannot hide. Fitzhenry and Sheedy are so arrogant, so convinced they can do whatever they please without consequence that they don’t even believe they need to campaign and that everyone will just blindly vote for their reelection. We saw this in the past with the EnCap housing debacle they all supported along with Donald Trump. But this is really happening. Hundreds of apartments constructed with more on the way. They don’t care what residents think or believe. This is their town and we just live here,” offered the council challengers.

The Democrats will continue to walk door to door until Tuesday and if you would like to meet the candidates, call (201) 655-8497.

If you need a ride to the polls, they will gladly pick you up and take you home.

“This is North Arlington’s one chance to stop these overdevelopment schemes,” said the hopefuls.
