Democratic Council Candidates Yampaglia and Bradley to Greet Voters at North Arlington Post Office this Saturday from 10 AM to 12 NOON!
NORTH ARLINGTON – Democratic council challengers John Yampaglia and Tom Bradley, who are challenging GOP incumbents Mario Karcic and Donna Bocchino will be greeting voters every Saturday until election day at the North Arlington Post Office located at Ridge Park Drive and Ridge Road.
The candidates, who out polled their Republican rivals by a 2.5-1 margin in the July Primary, are running on a platform of keeping North Arlington small, safe and suburban.
“Our Republican rivals have spent 2020 giving themselves pay raises and jobs and promotions for family members in the middle of a pandemic. We believe this kind of nepotism is counterproductive and not what homeowners and taxpayers expect from their elected officials in the most challenging of times,” offered the Democratic ticket.
“Our opponents are rapidly transforming North Arlington from the first community of Bergen County to the last municipality in Hudson. There proposals and policies will decimate North Arlington as a small, suburban community that most residents support and embrace. The density and lifting of height restrictions from three to six stories on Ridge Road threaten North Arlington’s values and character as a suburban venue homeowners can afford.”
The Democrats believe this “urbanization” and “gentrification” of North Arlington will create two communities in conflict with each other.
“Increasing traffic, volume and more apartment dwellings along Ridge Road will create a tale of two North Arlington’s. This is redevelopment that is out of control and without the approval of homeowners and taxpayers.”
“North Arlington needs reliable revenues that control taxes and spending. This revolving door, transient community being created on Ridge Road will stress essential services and raise property taxes all at the same time,” noted the two life-long residents.
Yampaglia is the brother of four-term councilman Mark Yampaglia, a local attorney and son of former municipal judge Emil Yampaglia. A former member of the North Arlington Planning Board, John is a licensed salon operator with his own business in Essex County.
Bradley, a local sports hero and 1,000 point scorer at Queen of Peace HS played baseball at the collegiate level and caught the eye of several major league organizations. A lifelong resident, homeowner, husband and father of two sons, Bradley has been a coach and recreation advocate for North Arlington kids for over a decade.
Republicans currently enjoy a complete monopoly of the Mayor and Council and Democrats believe responsible two-party government is important in creating the best dialogue and discussion for progress for the people.
“No one would endorse 100 senators of the same party in the US Senate or 435 members of the same party in the House of Representatives. We need bipartisan local government that listens to taxpayers and homeowners alike and we believe voters believe the same. We look forward to meeting residents at the Post Office and discussing the issues they really care about.”
