“Renaissance” or Exploitation for NA?

A recent fundraising letter for the N.A. Republican candidates recently reached us and tells a lot about how the one-party government in the borough thinks about the massive over development program is has started – without any public advice or input.

The letter asked big donors to support the so called Renaissance in North Arlington!

By Renaissance, the Republican leadership must be referring to the decisions to add more high-density housing to the borough and all the quality-of-life negatives that kind of development brings. Look at the SIX story monster on the southern end of Ridge Road and you get the picture.

Let’s be clear – what is happening in North Arlington is NOT a Renaissance it is a sell-out of the borough to deep pocket developers.

The tickets for the alleged fundraiser are $1,000 a piece – not the price point most people can afford.

But for millionaire developers who want to exploit the town, the price tag for three, four or ten tickets is peanuts; it’s a small down-payment to ensure that incumbents Mario Karcic and Donna Bocchino will continue to change the borough’s zoning laws to make it more lucrative for developers to exploit our small town.

Zoning laws have already been changed to allow more six story buildings in town, and high-density development almost everywhere.

The lack of parking at most the development areas is appalling and will only make our town more crowded, congested and difficult to navigate.

Keep in mind that two members of the mayor and council are real estate agents and their industry thrives on over-development.

The council meanwhile thrives on secrecy.

Councilmember Donna Bocchino and Council President Mario Karcic have not said ONE WORD, about the high-density developments that town has approved or the zoning changes the mayor and council support.

They have not asked the residents if they want to live in a congested urban area – they just decided to create one.

Isn’t it time they spoke up?

Karcic and Bocchino want this urbanization, North Arlington residents want to remain suburban.

Karcic and Bocchino want to be part of Hudson County, North Arlington residents prefer Bergen.

Karcic and Bocchino want six-story, low income housing to replace longtime retailers like the Italian Villa and Boston Market, Democrats Yampaglia and Bradley want to keep North Arlington small, safe and suburban.

Karcic and Bocchino’s urbanization means more density, traffic and higher school taxes.

Why won’t they just tell the truth?

Between now and Election Day when you will hear the word Renaissance in North Arlington quite a bit; Reject it and think instead of EXPLOITATION because that’s what is happening to our town thanks to Karcic and Bocchino’s anti-suburban policies that in the end will raise taxes!
