Insurgent Council Candidates John Balwierczak & John Yampaglia working hard for a better North Arlington!
Ending One-Party Government is the theme for anyone not part of the Pronti inner circle of partisan politics!
NORTH ARLINGTON – This year’s council race finds the two incumbents running unopposed, and thus another year of a 7-0 GOP monopoly will continue and that’s bad news for taxpayers, homeowners and tenants who want more from local government, a “North Arlington First” approach to solving problems and bringing the community closer together!
For now, the notion of “change” is non-existent as long as only one political party is doing all the talking and working equally hard to prevent the notion of a consensus, bipartisan municipal government.
They are just afraid of legitimate political opposition.
The notion of a dialogue or discussion has been dismissed by the all-Republican governing body and the real estate agents and developers who profit from this all-Republican stranglehold!
But despite the non-competitive nature of this year’s municipal election, a real discussion will occur in 2024 no matter how much they hate the notion of having to explain themselves or their record of urbanization, over development, gentrification, spiraling taxes, over borrowing, indebtedness and a complete rejection that what is best for North Arlington is retaining our character as being the gateway to Bergen County, the notion of being small, safe and suburban!
For the change they are constructing along Ridge Road does not have community wide support, or even a semblance of endorsement by longtime residents feeling ignored and pushed out, as North Arlington is just becoming a dense and urbanized city resembling East Newark or Harrison then say, Carlstadt, Wallington or East Rutherford!
And so in 2024 challengers John Balwierczak and John Yampaglia will be offering a unique and out-of-the-box perspective that is grass roots and best represents what North Arlington really wants to talk about and what North Arlington really wants to be moving forward!
There will be a real campaign and real alternative to the politics of the status quo, the local NA GOP.
For if a minority of Republicans are right and the rest of us are all wrong, why don’t these GOP candidates ever knock on a single door and make the case for rolling assessments, massive borrowing and urbanizing Ridge Road?
Do they really care what average voters think, and if you disagree will they even listen to your point-of-view no matter how reasonable?
How about for starters, hiring a North Arlington resident as a police officer versus out-of-towners from Paterson and Passaic County?
When did anyone from NA even get considered?
For sometimes democracy suffers and when it does, it takes these current conditions to create a resurgence in responsible two-party government.
In 2024 two additional and embedded incumbents will tell you all is just fine, and remember; the Mayor is supporting us! As if that’s all that matters? Will they talk about their records? No.Will they talk about accomplishment? No.
Will either discuss how they casted hundreds, if not thousands of roll call votes to make North Arlington more expensive at the behest of the local Republican machine?
A political machine led by a big fish in a very small bowl?
One incumbent has spent a virtual lifetime raising taxes at the North Arlington Board of Education for six years and then another decade at the Borough Council, when he wasn’t losing races for the state senate or county supervisor.
And the other spent her time figuring out how to get a job on the political payroll and then proceeding to award herself raises as a council member to attend just one meeting a month!
And you can fill their resume of accomplishment in a proverbial thimble!
But now we have two popular, lifelong North Arlington residents, products of North Arlington HS and our local recreational programs who have empathy for residents being squeezed out and ultimately forgotten and left behind.
Their names are John Balwierczak and John Yampaglia, putting North Arlington first!
They are not real estate agents or have a stake in apartments being constructed at such scary pace along Ridge Road which is starting to resemble Route 46 in Little Ferry as the density makes traveling along Ridge Road a driving nightmare!
And now the north part of Ridge Road is apparently being targeted for additional vertical rentals and many wonder what will be the fate of the now shuttered Boston Market property moving forward? More rentals? More density?Less parking? A greater stress on essential services at a much higher cost?
While these are serious issues for a serious discussion, that conversation will take place in 2024 despite all the GOP scare tactics, intimidation and political shenanigans that finds them in a real political battle in a presidential year that levels the political playing field and just throwing their names on the ballot no longer a prerequisite for victory.
For the community is slowly becoming united against this kind of thinking that is backward, unfair and just wrong for taxpayers.
One only needs to look at the financial campaign contributors to understand who is really running NA these days! Developers, real estate agents, contractors and builders.
So while we urge everyone to vote, just skip the council candidates at the bottom of the ballot and know that next year you will have a real choice. Candidates already going door to make North Arlington the community we all want it be!
