Overdevelopment of Ridge Road, Higher Property Taxes have Homeowners Upset.

Fitzhenry and Sheedy nowhere to be found, “no comment” on this urbanization of North Arlington!

NORTH ARLINGTON – Habitual citizen complaints about the overdevelopment of Ridge Road with more apartments already online have longtime residents in a panic as candidates John Balwierczak and John Yampaglia continue their house to house efforts for support.

According to sources, the local ticket for council has posted more lawn signs in over a decade with many of the locations newly found support they captured when securing over 300 signatures to qualify for the ballot in the June Primary.

The Republican incumbents, who have not had serious opposition for over a decade had less than 100 names.

John Balwierczak, a former Republican and graduate of North Arlington High School noted the support crosses party identification.

“Overdevelopment is a quality-of-life concern. It effects property values, it has increased traffic, decreased residential street parking and urbanized North Arlington into something it does not want. Yet our opponents in this race refuse to defend or acknowledge this miserable record and lack of accomplishment after a decade in office. Now these failed housing schemes are raising property taxes and they still refuse to comment, They have become the first candidates for council in the history of North Arlington to openly oppose the notion that North Arlington remain small, safe and suburban,” offered the Chestnut Street resident.

The two challengers accused the incumbents of a complete abdication of their council responsibilities and have become political puppets of the Mayor.

“There only message is that they are on the Mayor’s team. What does that mean? How about being on the side of homeowners? They refuse to campaign and even acknowledge the wave of break-in’s here in the community and the problems with these overdevelopment practices. They feel the election is already won and they award themselves with pay hike after pay hike. It is a disgrace and they are simply not worthy of reelection,” blasted Balwierczak.

The Democrats are committed to keeping North Arlington small, safe and suburban as is their slogan and reason for running.

“If the incumbents spent a single day campaigning, they would understand the opposition to unbridled apartment growth no one supports. We will continue to campaign and reach out so that regular people have a voice and can be heard. The only way we can process change is by throwing the incumbents out and restoring legitimate, two-party government back to the community. Seven Republicans ignoring the will of the people is not working and on Tuesday, November 5th we can make the change necessary to protect North Arlington’s long held beliefs and values as the gateway to Bergen County.”

Meet the Democrats every Saturday at the North Arlington Post Office from 9 am to 12 noon located at Ridge Park Drive.
