BALWIERCZAK BLEEDS BLUE!
NATIVE SAYS ELECTION IS A REFERENDUM WHETHER NORTH ARLINGTON REMAINS SMALL, SAFE, SUBURBAN, AND MOST OF ALL, AFFORDABLE!
PRONTI HAS IGNORED HOMEOWNERS & TENANTS WITH HIGHER PROPERTY TAXES, RENTS, LESS PARKING, MORE TRAFFIC AND MOST OF ALL, FEELING UNSAFE!
NORTH ARLINGTON – Lifelong resident John Balwierczak is calling the upcoming November 3rd General Election a referendum on whether “North Arlington remains small, safe, suburban and affordable and rejects the massive overdevelopment, urbanization and gentrification of our longtime residents, most of all, seniors.”
Balwierczak, a graduate of North Arlington High School and homeowner believes seniors are being “priced out by Pronti’s obsession with unbridled apartment construction that is turning North Arlington into Belleville, and a gateway to Newark versus Bergen County.”
“Pronti has decimated our business district. All the places I frequented along Ridge Road no longer exist. Longtime businesses like the Italian Villa and Mr. Pasta is now gone forever. MELRAYS, the largest retailer and commercial space on Ridge, is empty and dormant. What further proof does one need that Pronti’s policies are destroying our suburban character? This real estate agent from Bayonne doesn’t get it and never will. He has overstayed his welcome as our mayor,” blasted the Democrat.
Balwierczak reiterated his position that he will not accept donations from builders and developers who are doing business in North Arlington.
“How can you be objective and impartial when with one hand your accepting political campaign donations from the very source of the problem? Is Pronti putting taxpayers first? I am the choice of homeowners as well as tenants concerned about the direction of North Arlington.”
Balwierczak said North Arlington demands leadership that is home grown.
“Dan is a real estate agent from Bayonne. I have lived here all of my life and I’m unhappy with the direction he has taken and the cost now to operate local government with him in charge. Traffic on Ridge Road is a mess. It takes twenty minutes to get from Noel Drive to the Pike from Ridge Road. Parking is at a premium; burglaries and break-ins have residents exhausted. This is not the North Arlington where I grew up.”
Balwierczak believes Pronti has become “tone deaf” to the needs of everyday residents.
“I can work in a bipartisan basis with the remaining Republicans like Kirk Del Russo and Brian Fitzhenry. This insistence of Pronti’s my way or the highway developer schemes are not lowering property taxes. His rolling reassessments are only practiced in 18% of the state’s municipalities. Lyndhurst, Kearny, Belleville, East Rutherford, Secaucus and many others reject rolling reassessment and rightly so. He has had ten years of unilateral, unobstructed, complete, and entire control of this community. Is it better? The answer is obvious when Republicans are joining my campaign and leaving his,” offered the candidate.
Balwierczak is proud of his high school roots and commitment to North Arlington’s true principles and community values.
“I played varsity basketball for the Vikings. I’ll always live in North Arlington. Our two former mayors, Ed Martone and Pete Massa, are with me. For me, this is personal. I have deep connections with my neighbors and my Mom bless her soul is looking down on me. I can feel her presence, and this is my calling to serve.”
Balwierczak, 37, lost his Mom earlier this year at the age of just 65, and his Dad two years prior.
He has dedicated this campaign to their memory.
“Dan Pronti has had 8 years to do things his way and that hasn’t worked at all. Spending, property taxes and rent have skyrocketed, and who is protecting our seniors? His senior housing scheme calls for construction of forty units in a flood zone. A $238,000 water fountain he claims was free and a situation on Ridge that many believe is dangerous and unsafe. We had the worst crime incidents in decades with a double homicide on Ridge and a federal drug raid just around the corner. Incredibly, Pronti offers nothing but silence and refuses to even acknowledge the Belleville Pike raid at all. This is a retired cop with no position on a federal drug raid. It’s insulting to any resident that he has basically nothing to say,” assessed the challenger.
