GOP OVERDEVELOPMENT = LACK OF RESIDENTIAL STREET PARKING FOR NA RESIDENTS!

BALWIERCZAK, YAMPAGLIA SUPPORT PERMIT PARKING FOR NEIGHBORHOODS.

Massive overdevelopment by Fitzhenry and Sheedy has residents having to park blocks away!

NORTH ARLINGTON – The continued construction of apartment dwellings along Ridge Road with more scheduled on Schuyler Avenue, River Road and the Belleville Pike has taxpayers complaining about the current lack of residential street parking due to the overdevelopment practices of Republicans Brian Fitzhenry and Allison Sheedy.

Conversations and statements online has North Arlington residents concerned and worried about just where to park and the frustrations of just trying to find a space in front of their home.

With the average North Arlington property tax bill around $12,000 annually, residents are agitated by this continued state of having to search for a spot after a hard day at the job.

Some residents complained how drivers were strategically taking up two spaces so others could not squeeze in!

Conversation also drifted to the apparent purchase of a River Road parcel for parking, as the price of the transaction was rumored to be close to $1.4 million according to sources.

Some believed the property might have been leased for parking purposes.

John Balwierczak and John Yampaglia, the Democrats running under the slogan of keeping North Arlington small, safe and suburban attributed the lack of parking to the massive overdevelopment by the incumbents Fitzhenry and Sheedy.

The Democrats have proposed permit parking and it will be a priority as a quality-of-life issue should they win on November 5th.

“The current parking conditions are unacceptable. Having to walk two or three blocks to find a space is ridiculous. We need to clamped down on any new apartment dwellings not today, but yesterday. Permit parking needs to be considered given the current circumstances,” offered the challengers.

Others discussed the proliferation of out-of-state vehicles and that the problem has gone unaddressed for years.

The solution that people are seeking was parking as close to their place of residence as possible.

“We believe permit parking along with a comprehensive traffic study and survey makes the most sense. It is apparent all the new apartments are contributing to a serious issue and a moratorium on any new apartment construction needs to be considered,” offered Balwierczak, a Chestnut Street resident and graduate of North Arlington High School where he played varsity basketball for the Vikings.

The Democrats are walking everyday going door to door to meet the voters. You can meet them any Saturday between now and the election at the North Arlington Post Office located at Ridge Park Drive. Stop by and participate in their community survey or pickup a sign for your home.

The Democrats will host a “Meet & Greet,” at the Arlington Diner on Wednesday, October 30th beginning at 7PM and all supportive parties are urged to attend.

Light refreshments will be served.
