NORTH ARLINGTON – Over 300 Bergen County Democrats gathered Wednesday evening to support “favorite son” candidate Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-5) for the Democratic nomination for governor come the June 10th Primary. Gottheimer, a former speech writer for President Bill Clinton is widely considered the true moderate in the race to succeed the term-limited incumbent Phil Murphy. A member of the “Problem Solvers” Caucus in the House of Representatives, Gottheimer is all about taking on the issues facing America & New Jersey in a bipartisan fashion.  Getting things done is the Gottheimer way.

A strong supporter of first responders such as Police & Fire, Gottheimer could become the first resident of Bergen County to be elected Governor in the modern age.

Local Democrats led by party leader Nick Antonicello and the two candidates for council are behind Gottheimer 100%.

Steven Van Zandt, a longtime member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street band also endorsed Gottheimer tonight.

“The issue in North Arlington is rising property taxes, random reassessments and massive overdevelopment by Republicans and specifically Mr. EnCap, Kirk Del Russo. We need a regular guy like Josh fighting for our community values and keeping NA small, safe and Suburban,” offered both council hopefuls John Balwierczak and Jimmy Sever, the candidates for council seeking to break the 7-0 Republican stranglehold on local government. No Democrat has served on the Mayor and Council since 2019.
