WILL MASSIVE OVERDEVELOPMENT LEAD TO OVERCROWDED LOCAL SCHOOLS?
More residents, more density will lead to larger class sizes and ultimately higher school taxes no matter what the local GOP believes!
North Arlington – If local Republicans have their way, they will build more apartment units wherever possible and still promote the false premise that increases in the overall population and density will not result in larger school enrollments and thus higher school taxes.
As usual, clear-thinking residents believe otherwise.
Here is an online post that just points out the obvious, except to local Republicans who dominate the Mayor & Council.
These are the same cast of characters that believe rolling reassessments are a good idea, that pay hikes for council members every year are just fine, and that increased congestion, traffic along Ridge and less street parking are okay with Pronti and Del Russo.
They still stick to the rhetoric that all this new construction would stabilize the tax rate.
Has it?
No.
They stick to the notion that random reassessments are somehow fair and equitable.
Are they?
No.
And local Republicans continue to support council members like Kirk Del Russo who pushed for some 1,600 units of housing in the Meadowlands known as Arlington Valley, the fantasy of converting landfills into golf courses and the mass density that would have destroyed North Arlington as we know it, and who knows what infrastructure costs would have come with that obscene amount of housing as proposed by Donald Trump and endorsed by Del Russo, a local real estate agent who has never seen an apartment unit proposal he doesn’t support!
And it was Del Russo who failed miserably as a council member to negotiate with the state on the number of affordable units would be required in North Arlington.
While the state’s 561 other municipalities have done so like neighboring Lyndhurst, East Rutherford, Kearny and Belleville have, why hasn’t NA?
Del Russo’s solution is to sue the state and mire North Arlington in costly legal fees instead instead of doing his job.
For Councilman Kirk Del Russo (R) is a political “rubber stamp” for random reassessments and whatever a developer wants to build here in North Arlington.
When just once, did he oppose a single overdevelopment deal supported by his fellow real estate agent, Mayor Dan Pronti?
Del Russo is a political door mat for more of the same, and property taxes will continue to rise because he lacks the courage, will or stomach to take on a Mayor that does as he pleases with no pushback from this “see no evil, hear no evil,” borough council.
If you fear overcrowded classrooms and unbridled density that is transforming North Arlington into an extension of Kearny and Hudson County , the time to show Del Russo the door is this November.
Enough is enough in North Arlington.
