NA DEMOCRATS BALWIERCZAK AND SEVER HITTING THE BRICKS AND MEETING VOTERS!

When is Cavadas resigning?

Legal fees swell to over $350,000!

North Arlington – The Democratic council candidates have officially begun their door-to-door efforts to topple the all-Republican Mayor and Council and oust EnCap cheerleader and real estate agent Kirk Del Russo (R) from office.

John Balwierczak and Cengiz “Jim” Sever spent several hours on a hot Sunday afternoon canvassing the community and dropping off campaign literature detailing their backgrounds and platform for change.

It was apparent that spiraling property taxes, rolling assessments and the massive overdevelopment of Ridge Road were the primary issues on the minds of voters as well as the fact having just Republicans on the Mayor & Council didn’t sit well with most residents they spoke with.

“The overall cost of government here in North Arlington is becoming unsustainable. We asked for the cost of legal fees from 1/01/24 to date and between fees, services and retainer, the overall payments are an astounding $353,190.57.” Attached is the schedule of fees and payments provided in an Open Public Records request with the Municipal Clerk.

“Voters feel ignored. They feel they have no say or stake in the future of the community. They believe Pronti and Del Russo have ignored their wishes regarding these rolling tax reassessments and that the communication between Borough Hall and the people is sorely lacking. If nothing else, taxpayers seem to crave a second pair of eyes on the finances and that any surplus funding should be used for tax relief, not $1.5 million squandered on an empty parking lot on River Road,” offered candidate John Balwierczak.

“This is a government laced in mystery and little transparency. It is a government that operates behind closes doors and ZOOM meetings. The time for a responsible two-party government is now. Ten years of Republicans doing as they please doesn’t sit well with most voters,” observed the Democrats.

The Democrats were hopeful a forum with their opponents could be arranged.

“Quite frankly, we’re tired of two candidates who can’t speak for themselves as Mayor Pronti does all the talking and our opponents remain silent. Del Russo and DeCicco are on the ballot, not Pronti.”

Both Balwierczak and Sever are also concerned when Councilwoman Lynette Cavadas (R) plans to resign.

Cavadas announced she was not seeking reelection last March, and at the last council meeting told residents she was moving to Lyndhurst, and that she has sold her home.

Her current term of office ends December 31st, 2025.

Here are her comments on video.

The Democrats plan to knock on every door at least once between now and election day.

A copy of their campaign flyer is attached.

“People want choices. People want candidates to discuss the issues. People want candidates who listen. Win or lose, we will provide those options to the voters,” offered both Balwierczak and Sever.
