SNOW REMOVAL SLOW & CHALLENGING WITH LITTLE PRAISE FOR PRONTI!

Moving 17.1 inches of snow is never easy in a community like North Arlington, but pointed posts directed at Mayor Dan Pronti (R) were obvious and evident after DPW workers worked hard to clear the streets, nevertheless.

Dozens of residents took to the Internet since the blizzard to express their dissatisfaction with Pronti, the part-time real estate agent and retired cop.

Some residents took jabs at the Mayor’s $238,000 acquisition of that frozen water fountain at River Road as some viewed that spending as frivolous at worst, and not in the best interests of the community.

Others were startled by the 2025, $200,000 out-of-court settlement with a former library employee who accused North Arlington of a hostile work environment.

Pronti has refused comment on the controversial settlement he ironically endorsed along with his all-Republican Borough Council.

John Balwierczak, a former candidate for borough council, noted that the cost of the legal settlement and water fountain were examples of nearly $500,000 in wasteful Republican expenditures!

“It’s not a good look. Wasted tax dollars on lawsuits and water fountains will always have the voters wondering what exactly is going on in Borough Hall,” offered the lifelong NA resident.

Even Maga Republican George Rosko, a member of the planning board and former school trustee had little praise for his Republican mayor.

And while North Arlington Happenings, the pro-Republican, pro-Pronti Facebook page praised the incumbent, independent residents made it clear that Pronti’s leadership during the storm was less than stellar or impressive.

Is change in the air for NA?

Here is more commentary from online posts critical of the GOP Mayor seeking a third term this November.

One individual said it best:

“Can’t clean the street, take snow away, but puts in a fountain, doesn’t care about people in town.”
