INCREASING TAXES, SPENDING, AND HIS OWN SALARY ALL AT THE SAME TIME!

Pronti arrogantly defends the fifth mayoral pay hike in five years!

NORTH ARLINGTON – How would you like a job where you can arbitrarily raise your own salary without public scrutiny, accountability or transparency in the worst of times?

Have you received five consecutive pay hikes at your place of business?

Enter MAGA Mayor Dan Pronti!

In an email blast to residents, Pronti actually defends this unnecessary pay hike for a part-time position to attend one (1) single meeting per month or $1,172.79!

Pronti is part-time, he does not manage North Arlington on a day-to-day basis. That is the job of the Borough Administrator who only works apparently three days a week according to his contract while earning over $200,000 when you consider salary, perks and benefits!

So, who is really in charge, the part-time mayor or less than the full-time administrator?

For the salary grid above is as obvious, evident and speaks to the dysfunction of having one political party controlling every aspect of local government.

In neighboring Kearny, with a population of 40,000 people, the mayor receives just $10,000. In Belleville, the mayor receives just $7,000 or half of Pronti’s salary with an estimated population of 36,000! In neighboring Rutherford, the mayor earns $6,000 despite a population of just under 19,000. And Lodi, with a population of over 24,000, the mayor makes just $7,200 according to online documentation.

Mayoral candidate and lifelong resident John Balwierczak called Pronti to task.

“There is no justification or rationale for Pronti to decide unilaterally what he should make in this part-time elected position. Residents have absolutely no say, and these ridiculous pay hikes for the entire Mayor & Council are conveniently buried in the bowels of this budget. Five raises in five years when you’re already the highest paid mayor in the area despite being smaller in population than a Kearny, Belleville, Lyndhurst, Secaucus or Lodi? This is the arrogance of a guy who reports to no one, as that hapless borough council is equally inept,” offered the candidate.

“Elections have consequences. When you have a single political party doing as they please with your tax dollars, this is the end result. Wouldn’t you like to simply increase your own salary like Pronti does? Did he decrease taxes? End massive overdevelopment or end the senseless tax reassessments NA opposes? Do you feel safe with the recent shooting or federal raid of a Belleville Pike business mixed up in drugs? Something Pronti won’t even acknowledge happened? We need a change this November,” offered the Democrat.

“I’m a life-long resident and graduate of NAHS. I’ll cut my salary in half and donate the proceeds for a scholarship for a needy NAHS student seeking to go to college. With Pronti, it’s all politics all the time. Go up to Ridge Road and try to shop as business after business has closed on his watch. He just doesn’t care. He wants more apartments, more urbanization, more traffic, and even less residential parking while raising property taxes at record levels.”

“There is a clear choice in this campaign. I stand for the principles and values of North Arlington, of remaining small, safe, suburban, and affordable. Pronti wants to give a blank check for out-of-town developers who fuel his campaign while urbanizing NA into a small city like Harrison or Belleville. He isn’t from NA; he’s a real estate agent from Bayonne who doesn’t care what you think or say. This is his town, and you just live here.”

“Ask yourself, does Pronti deserve to do as he pleases given the circumstances he has created economically on Ridge Road? Do you feel safe with him in charge? Isn’t it time for a healthy mix of Democrats and Republicans on the Mayor & Council? Why is he so terrified of responsible, two-party governance? Give us the opportunity to play a role of financial oversight and place NA back on the right track,” offered Balwierczak.
