NA’s Dunkin Donuts rated one of the “Most Chaotic” in New Jersey!
North Arlington – As if things couldn’t get much worse along Ridge Road with the massive overdevelopment of unwanted apartment construction, vacant and dormant storefronts at record levels that have decimated what’s left of our business district, the local Dunkin Donuts has been named one of the “most chaotic” in all of New Jersey!

John Balwierczak, the Democratic candidate for mayor who is challenging two-term incumbent Dan Pronti (R), offered the following assessment:
“Ridge Road, once the pride and gateway to Bergen County have become a mess with Pronti in charge. The double homicide murders, the federal raid of a Belleville Pike business mixed up in drugs, the scores of empty storefronts have residents concerned when you compound the effect of increased traffic, less residential parking and higher taxes all on Pronti’s watch. It is clear after a decade of Republicans running this community into the ground, that change is necessary and that starts with leadership, and three new members of this governing body in myself, Dennis Papile and Jim Sever,” noted the lifelong resident and graduate of NAHS. 
“There is a crisis in leadership here in North Arlington and after nearly 10 years of all Republicans all of the time, how much more can residents stand? Rampant and out-of-control construction disguised as progress. Seniors and longtime residents being pushed out and ignored has to end now.”
Balwierczak is calling for immediate action steps:
- A moratorium on all further apartment construction along Ridge Road, the Belleville Turnpike and Schuyler Avenue.
- An immediate elimination of these random and rolling reassessments to a more fruitful and tangible timeline of 7-10 years so that the economic advantage is back with the property owner to reinvest in their home or business.
- A parking and traffic study that reviews Ridge Road and how to make it less congestive for residents.
- Permit parking in neighborhoods most effected by the after spill of Ridge Road vehicles.
- A better deployment of our police resources that would include cops on the beat in locations like Ridge Road and the use of drone technology to prevent crimes before they occur.
- “This mayor sees no evil and hears no evil. We have a local management operation that is led by a part-time borough administrator and part-time mayor. We have municipally owned vehicles spotted at an Atlantic City casino. A better management effort is necessary; and we need to get back to the basic principles of keeping North Arlington small, safe, suburban and affordable.”
Balwierczak, a local homeowner, is running with Dennis Papile, a school crossing guard and longtime resident who is married with children. Papile is also a homeowner as is his running-mate Jim Sever who is a union employed tile and marble cutter who has been endorsed by the New Jersey AFL-CIO. Sever is married with three children. All three have been endorsed by the Bergen County Central Trades & Labor Council; the only candidates endorsed in this race by organized labor.
