REMEMBERING MAYOR JOE BIANCHI

There are few people in government and politics that are transformational in nature, that bring people together in an open and honest way.

The late Joseph Bianchi was one of those people.

He had an authenticity that was personable, positive and real.

So when Mayor Bianchi passed last year in early October his departure was a loss for every North Arlington resident and we need people in public service to follow that exact example in how to bring people together through substantial public policy while leaving partisan politics behind.

Mayor Joe served his country, community and family as an individual who believed in the words, “Service above Self.”

As the 1st Anniversary of his passing nears, the time to properly honor Mayor Bianchi and his public service needs to be addressed by the community he loved so much.

Whether that a park or location, a street in his honor or a designation of some sort, the good things and accomplishments of Joseph Bianchi should be memorialized here in North Arlington for all to respect and honor.

His hard work on making the Federal Express Distribution Center a reality was his crowning accomplishment and maybe renaming Porete Avenue in his honor would be an appropriate tribute to a favorite son of North Arlington.

But whatever the tribute, his demeanor and personality needs to be emulated by our local leadership regardless of politics and philosophy.

His ability to get along with all and work together for the common good is something we need today in government as well as politics.

For that is part of the Joe Bianchi legacy.

Joe Bianchi is part of a generation of individuals that believed in public service and helping others.

Be it as a volunteer firefighter, elected official or fraternal organization member, Joe Bianchi gave back to NA in a way that needs to be remembered.

North Arlington is a tightly knit place with hundreds, if not thousands who work hard to make the community the best it can be!

The time has come to memorialize and make the proper tribute to an individual who best represented what North Arlington is truly all about.
