THE FUTURE OF NORTH ARLINGTON?

6 STORIES, 49 MORE UNITS, 44 ONE-BEDROOMS AND 5 PENTHOUSE APARTMENTS!

IS NORTH ARLINGTON MOVING FORWARD? OR IS MORE “URBANIZATION,” LESS PARKING, MORE RIDGE ROAD TRAFFIC AND HIGHER TAXES THE “NEW NORMAL” FOR NA HOMEOWNERS?

The picture above gives you an accurate depiction of the mass, scale and character of a six-story structure on Ridge Road as supported by the GOP incumbents Karcic and Bocchino.

Your local Republican Party is abandoning any support to retain North Arlington’s longtime suburban character as the first town in Bergen County and instead is becoming an extension of Harrison and the last town in Hudson County.

High density apartments along Ridge Road will rob North Arlington of its “small, safe and suburban” character and replace it with “revolving door residents” while creating a strain on local services such as police, fire and other emergency investments and increasing our school population and thus, higher property taxes which will translate to higher rents as well!

“The long-standing support for North Arlington as a livable, crime-free and suburban community is being replaced by a Hudson County & Harrison style city that flies in the face of the bipartisan policies of former Mayors Kaiser, Pitman, Massa and the late Joe Bianchi,” offered one observer in frustration.

“But this year North Arlington has a choice, we can continue to elect puppets of Dan Pronti or bring back responsible two-party government and elect Democrats Tommy Bradley and John Yampaglia to ensure we have checks and balances on the governing body.”

Many believe North Arlington’s values are being disrupted by this rapid change from suburban to urban with no tangible benefits or results.

“Who wants more traffic, less parking, more congestion and higher property taxes?”

This apparent rush to overdevelopment along Ridge Road only compounds, and does not solve North Arlington’s tax revenue question.

Residents have become leery and suspicious of this direction few residents had a say to weigh-in.

“Development is supposed to benefit the homeowner, not just the developer. North Arlington’s long-standing land use, planning and zoning principles are being relaxed, and in some cases thrown out of the window entirely,” offered one passerby when asked to comment.

No doubt overdevelopment, higher property taxes, greater density, parking and traffic will be issues the GOP incumbents will have to explain and defend come the general election in November.

Karcic and Bocchino are for developers; while Bradley and Yampaglia are on the side of longtime NA residents, retailers, seniors, homeowners and tenants!
