YAMPAGLIA RENEWS CALL FOR BIKE/WALKING PATH AT RIVER ROAD

NORTH ARLINGTON – Believing an infrastructure investment at River Road along the Passaic River will spurt sustaining economic development for taxpayers, Councilman Mark Yampaglia is renewing his call for cooperation with Bergen County and Freeholder Steve Tanelli with plans to construct a bike/running path that connects the North Arlington Diner with Riverside County Park.

An idea that Yampaglia floated last year in his unsuccessful campaign for mayor, the four-term councilman is renewing his bid to ignite redevelopment along River Road.

“We need to take advantage of this undervalued asset, the Passaic riverfront,” noted Yampaglia.

“This is the kind of smart redevelopment that can happen with bipartisan cooperation. Such a program will create construction jobs for years while increasing home values along this stretch from Kearny to Lyndhurst,” offered the life-long resident and local attorney.

“We need to seriously investigate this opportunity. This combination of private and public investment is a win-win for everyone, especially those current homeowners. This area needs to become more residential and more suburban in vision and purpose,” said the ranking member of the Mayor and Council.

Yampaglia believes working with Bergen County and Freeholder Steve Tanelli “the right thing to do.”

“I want to be bold, I want to redevelop this waterfront and bring new revenue so we’re not in the position of having to make hard choices in every budget. The key to success is added revenues that enhance our community brand,” offered Yampaglia, a member of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa.
