DORMANT, EMPTY STOREFRONTS RIDDLE RIDGE ROAD!

DORMANT, EMPTY STOREFRONTS RIDDLE RIDGE ROAD!

URBANIZATION & GENTRIFICATION OF RIDGE ROAD IN FULL EFFECT THANKS TO PRONTI, NA GOP!

ARE EVEN MORE APARTMENTS ON THE WAY?

HOW MANY IS TOO MANY FOR TAXPAYERS?

NORTH ARLINGTON – The proliferation of more density, traffic and the urbanization along Ridge Road continues as here is just a sample of the current storefronts that are closed, making way potentially for even more apartments that could further stress essential services.

The following stores have closed and are now either for rent or possible purchase:

* Chickenple

* Favetta Optical (moved to another location on Ridge Road)

* Emidio Shoe Repair

* Care RX

* Luk Oil

* Project 584

* NJ-HITT

These vacancies are in addition to MELRAY’S, the largest parcel of retail space in the community that has been empty for over a year.

Rumors of further demolition can be found online as outreach to the residents is almost non-existent based on those asking: What exactly is going on?

John Balwierczak, who is challenging Republican incumbent Dan Pronti for mayor is calling for a Town Hall so that residents can ask questions and be part of what he regards as a “closed process with no input” from the community.

“Buildings are coming down and construction along Ridge Road will be long term and a headache for many residents just getting from one end of North Arlington to the other. Isn’t it time we were informed as to the volume of work we can expect? Is it too much to ask to tell people for the details and the extent of all this activity along Ridge Road? offered the candidate.

Balwierczak was blunt in his assessment of what he described as “exploding overdevelopment and let the residents be damned.”

“This is why Dan Pronti won’t debate or discuss his radical redevelopment of Ridge Road. Real estate interests and out-of-town developers are apparently running North Arlington. Where is the public input other than the obvious public outcry for answers.”
