ANOTHER “DENY & REJECT” BY PRONTI ADMINISTRATION!
OPRA REQUEST FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION DENIED, BALWIERCZAK BLAMES PRONTI FOR “PARTISAN GAMESMANSHIP”
NORTH ARLINGTON – Democratic mayoral candidate John Balwierczak was once again routinely denied access to public information regarding the usage of municipally owned vehicles, and if there’s personal usage in terms of gas, tolls and maintenance being paid for by tax dollars.
According to data online, at least three department heads have access to municipally owned vehicles that could include personal travel as well.
This is the second request made by Balwierczak and the second denial by the Pronti Administration.

Also attached is the very specific request for the usage of municipally owned vehicles in wake of the fact that a North Arlington Fire Department vehicle was photographed at an Atlantic City casino in the fall of 2025 parked in a preferred space at the entrance.

“Trying to get public information is like pulling teeth with MAGA Mayor Dan Pronti in charge. This is a simple request for how these vehicles are used and the cost around maintaining them. Instead, I am denied this information as a homeowner and taxpayer,” noted the lifelong resident and graduate of NAHS.
“Pronti has no comment on municipal vehicles at an Atlantic City casino. He has no comment when the feds conduct a raid on a business mixed up in drugs. He has no comment on the multiple businesses that have closed this year along Ridge Road. Does anyone feel safe in the wake of the double homicides? It has become a ghost town with him in charge and after 10 years of his urbanization of North Arlington, I say it’s time we get back to our values as a community, to remain small, safe, suburban and most of all, affordable.”
“The massive overdevelopment of Ridge Road with apartments is great for his out-of-town developer donors, not North Arlington. His unfair and unequitable rolling reassessments are driving longtime residents out of NA, especially the 2,700 or so seniors on fixed incomes. He just spent $5.2 million in surplus to enable his outrageous spending practices we can no longer afford. This man is not from NA, he’s a real estate agent who has packed the Planning & Zoning boards with his political cronies who rubber stamp this destruction of what was once a safe bedroom community that has morphed into an extension of Belleville and a gateway to Newark, no longer Bergen County,” noted the challenger. 
“This OPRA request was denied by partisan politics. I hold Pronti personally accountable and the residents of North Arlington are being held hostage by this Hudson County style boss from Bayonne.”
An OPRA request is a formal, written application submitted under New Jersey’s Open Public Records Act to inspect, copy, or examine public records held by state and local government agencies.
The key details about OPRA requests are documents, emails, maps, books, and other official materials created or maintained by public bodies like towns, counties, school districts, and state departments. Any person, including residents, businesses, and members of the media, can make these requests which are a normal function and a responsibility of the Municipal Clerk.
Pronti has continually lambasted such public records requests as “expensive,” with zero evidence, even while the clerk is the custodian of such records, interacting on these requests is the normal course of business for that department.
Sources tell NA Today that in Borough Hall, the borough administrator who works just three days a week, has a big screen television installed in his office. 
“Who has a television in their office in the real world? This is how local government conducts itself in North Arlington with a part-time mayor and real estate agent and a part-time borough administrator earning in excess of $200,000 in salary, perks and benefits. Should I have the opportunity to become mayor, all this nonsense will end, and a back-to-basics management process will replace this foolishness,” promised Balwierczak.
