DORSETT, SMITH SEEK REELECTION TO NORTH ARLINGTON BOARD OF EDUCATION.
Longtime incumbents have a resume of educational accomplishment and academic excellence.
NORTH ARLINGTON – Board of Education trustees Robert Dorsett and Edward Smith have declared their intention to seek another three-year term on the North Arlington Board of Education.
Running as a team, they were elected in 2017 and reelected by wide margins in 2020 and again in 2023.
Both homeowners, Dorsett resides on Bathurst while Smith resides on Lincoln.
In the November 2020 school board contest, Dorsett received 3,609 votes (33.24%) and Smith received 2,637 (24.29%), finishing first and second.
In 2023 Dorsett received 1,291 votes while Smith garnered 1,097.
Dorsett has been particularly active in school athletics and community activities.
Dorsett serves as CFO of Hayden’s Heart, a non-profit 501(c)(3) that was created to honor Hayden Jeter Dorsett. The mission with the foundation is to raise CHD awareness and to keep Hayden’s memory alive by helping families affected by CHD.
Congenital heart disease (or congenital heart defect) refers to a structural problem with the heart that is present at birth. These issues affect how the heart is shaped and how blood flows through it to the rest of the body. 
Smith, the current board president, has a BA in elementary education and an MA in Administration & Supervision. Dorsett has a BA in Special Education and an MA in Educational Technology.
Both are educators.
