$3,305,585 IN PERMAMENT INCREASES TO THE SCHOOL TAX LEVY PROPOSED BY SCHOOL BOARD AND ENDORSED BY REPUBLICANS DEL RUSSO, CAVADAS AND BOCCHINO!
A “YES” VOTE WILL INCREASE SCHOOL TAXES $691.28 NOVEMBER 5TH WITH ANOTHER PROPOSED TAX HIKE OF $114.22 COME DECEMBER FOR A TOTAL OF $805.50!
North Arlington – In what would be the single largest tax hike in North Arlington history, the Board of Education in cooperation with Republican council candidates Kirk Del Russo, Lynette Cavadas and Donna Bocchino are seeking over $13,000,000 in new school spending and a minimum, permanent property tax hike of $805.50, if these levy initiatives meet with voter approvals (see attached sample ballot).
The first wave of tax hikes are in the form of three (3) referendums that will appear on Tuesday’s ballot reflecting $3.3 million dollars in new spending and a proposed $691.28 permanent tax hike.
Del Russo, Cavadas and Bocchino have endorsed all four spending increases and tax hikes!
The Board of Education purchased the now dormant Queen of Peace HS for nearly $7,000,000 with no voter input from surplus funding accumulated over time. If the additional $13.3 million is approved in a series of four (4) referendums, the school district would be spending over $20,000,000 in this massive expansion and transformation of a school district that has roughly 1800 students which reflects no spike in pupil enrollment.
These referendums reflect the permanent hiring of dozens of new teachers and nearly forty non-instructional employees that reflect about a 25% increase in permanent school staffing and personnel!
The Republican candidates, who refused to debate Democrats in this campaign for three council seats have also refused to talk about the issues of the permanent tax hikes they support.
“Kirk Del Russo, Lynette Cavadas and Donna Bocchino have avoided a debate, the voters and refuse to comment on this massive tax hike of $13,300,000 they enthusiastically endorsed and support. The three of them haven’t even been elected, and already want to hike taxes nearly $1,000 without casting a single vote! These three are “tax and spend” politicians who do not care what North Arlington homeowners think or want which is tax relief,” noted one local observer who was shocked how little these referendums have been discussed by the GOP candidates.
“It is not a coincidence that Del Russo, Cavadas and Bocchino avoided the Tuesday debate. They have made a deal with the school board and they plan to raise taxes on Tuesday with their support of these referendums and again in December and again in January should they win and the loser is the exhausted senior homeowner who has no say with these Republicans. It is an absolute lie and disgrace that these hacks masquerade as conservatives when in fact they are machine backed candidates seeking to eliminate responsible two-party government.”
The support of these massive tax hikes is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the tax hikes these candidates support.
Del Russo, Cavadas and Bocchino represent the worst in tax and spend politicians who don’t care what you the taxpayer thinks. You need to reject Del Russo, Cavadas and Bocchino and vote “NO” on all public questions to avoid this massive tax hike!
