BALWIERCZAK: WE NEED CHANGE AT THE TOP; PRONTI NEEDS TO GO!

NORTH ARLINGTON – The issue of “change” is dominating this year’s race for mayor here in North Arlington, and the question being posed is do we need change for change’s sake, or real change in terms of leadership moving forward?

With Pronti in charge, we have seen massive change of the community regarding density, gentrification and the urbanization of Ridge Road. We have witnessed very questionable change in random, Republican tax assessments from every ten years to literally every year driving up the cost for longtime residents, especially seniors.

We have a real estate agent running North Arlington, who hasn’t seen an apartment proposal by out-of-town developers he doesn’t support, as this 7-0, all-Republican Mayor & Council continues to urbanize the community into an extension of Kearny, Harrison or Belleville, take your pick while retreating from our suburban values as the gateway to Bergen County!

But most of all, the change we see every day lacks any serious input or support from homeowners or residents like the hundreds of new apartments and the stress they will place on essential services or Pronti’s decision to waste tens of thousands in legal fees to oppose the mandated housing requirements that 95% of the other New Jersey municipalities are in full compliance, claiming our housing obligations have been somehow met!

It’s untrue and false.

John Balwierczak, a life-long resident and graduate of North Arlington HS, disagrees with the GOP sentiment of change for change’s sake.

“I have yet to meet a resident who is happy with the conditions on Ridge Road or the lack of communication regarding the demolition of the old Italian Villa property for more apartments. The Republicans are so in bed with these out-of-town developers that the Republicans used their space for a dilapidated clubhouse to pimp this unpopular and reckless agenda of building more apartments and asking questions later.”

“Pronti, who is a retired cop, had zero comment regarding the raid at 258 Belleville Turnpike, but was more than happy to promote this business on his FACEBOOK mayoral page where I am blocked as a resident in July of 2024. If I were a retired law enforcement official, I would have informed the community immediately. That’s leadership,” offered the Democrat. https://natoday.net/local-business-implicated-in-sweeping-drug-bust-15-kilos-of-fentanyl-19-guns-29-arrests/

Balwierczak commented that Pronti uses “selective commentary” when it comes to the issues North Arlington really wants to talk about.

“Pronti lied about the cost of this River Road water fountain to taxpayers. He claimed it was free when it actually cost $238,800 to install, and we still don’t know the actual value of the fountain itself; he says was donated. What about the $200,000 out-of-court settlement he engineered regarding litigation by a former library employee regarding hostile workplace conditions. Who was responsible for this lawsuit? It was Pronti who endorsed every member of that board, but where is the transparency and accountability? It does not exist,” observed the candidate.

Balwierczak agreed change is necessary, and it starts at the top with Dan Pronti.

“Pronti is an arrogant, condescending part time mayor who despises responsible two-party government and will do almost anything to eliminate competitive local elections. He is enraged I dare to challenge him as he stays silent on the real issues that are embarrassing our community and our longstanding values of being small, safe, suburban and affordable. He now has his sights on the non-partisan Board of Education, so he can control every aspect of North Arlington’s municipal government by running party hacks against competent educational advocates who put children and parents first,” noted the former varsity athlete at NAHS.

“I’m a Viking, Dan is a carpetbagger from Bayonne.”

Balwierczak stressed that real change must start at the top.

“Republicans have a 7-0 majority and no Democrat has served since 2019. We need Democrats back on the Mayor & Council so that this one-party monopoly and monologue ends once and for all. We need our own thinking, not copying the overdevelopment schemes of Belleville where that Mayor is on our borough’s payroll. I’m a former Republican. I can work with the remaining Republicans when we win this November. The problem isn’t bipartisan government, the problem is MAGA Mayor Dan Pronti.”
