SEVER ATTENDS POLITICAL WORKSHOP WITH ENDORSED CANDIDATES BY THE NEW JERSEY AFL-CIO!
OPPOSES PRONTI’S PROPERTY TAX HIKES, SEEKS TO PROTECT WORKING FAMILIES AND SENIORS HERE IN NORTH ARLINGTON!
NORTH ARLINGTON – Cengiz “Jim” Sever, a husband, parent and homeowner, recently attended a workshop with other endorsed candidates by the New Jersey AFL-CIO, the state’s largest affiliated union.
Sever is running with mayoral candidate John Balwierczak and Dennis Papile for Borough Council.
Sever is endorsed by the New Jersey AFL-CIO as well as the Bergen County Central Trades Council.
He is employed as a journeyman tile installer with Local #7 (BAC Allied Crafts) in New York.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, where he attended Lafayette High School.
A longtime resident and homeowner on Albert Street, he has been married for 28 years and is a father to three children (two sons and a daughter).
Sever, who opposes the steep property tax hikes and rolling assessments of Mayor Dan Pronti, will see a $900 increase on his own home thanks to the Republicans.
“Enough is enough, my property taxes are rising at a ridiculous rate, and North Arlington is being urbanized all at the same time. Republican policies at the local level are driving out working families and seniors all at the same time. What are we receiving in return? Where is the value? It does not exist, and we need council members that will challenge this failed status quo. We need a healthy mix of Democrats and Republicans to ensure that these rolling assessments end. I came to North Arlington to get away from high crime and high property taxes. Pronti’s policies are in direct conflict with those values. We need a change now.”
Sever believes Republicans from the federal level to the local level are hurting working, blue collar families.
“Look at Trump’s Tariff policy. They cost families $1700 annually when you go to buy food and groceries. Trump tried to bring EnCap to North Arlington and now Pronti is committed to hundreds of apartments that have decimated our local business district. Dan Pronti’s massive overdevelopment, rolling reassessments and urbanization is threatening our values and it’s time for Democrats to step up and offer a better direction.” 
“Our ticket has the endorsement of labor and working families and seniors. Our opponents are the ticket of out-of-town developers who don’t live here, but we do. Our community and character moving forward are at stake.”
