NORTH ARLINGTON – A political clubhouse on Ridge Road where a collection of empty storefronts are evident seems to be the norm rather than the exception as people wonder, what is happening on Ridge Road? For all politics all of the time versus responsible public policy seems to be the net result of all Republicans, all of the time!North Arlington is dominated by a 7-0 majority and they control every aspect of our municipal government.No Democrat has served on the council since 2019.Rumors are rampant as to just what is the future of these empty buildings, as many say they will be eventually torn down for more multiple dwellings as North Arlington becomes more and more urbanized, and a retreat from the once commonly held, and bipartisan notion that our community was the gateway to Bergen County and not an extension of Hudson County!For it seems local Republicans are the only tenant along this stretch of properties as rental apartments and increased density seems to be the new normal with embedded incumbents Brian Fitzhenry and Allison Sheedy leading the way!You would think the windows could be cleaned and year-old campaign signs be removed from an election where there was no contest. Hopefully some spring cleaning is forthcoming and the current conditions corrected moving forward.
