NA LOCALS ATTEND BERGEN DEM CONVENTION, ENDORSE MURPHY FOR US SENATE

Council candidates Balwierczak and Yampaglia support NJ First Lady for US Senate, Pascrell for Congress, Tanelli & Zur for reelection for County Commissioner!

PARAMUS – A contingent of twenty-one North Arlington Democrats led by council hopefuls John Balwierczak and John Yampaglia participated in the annual Bergen County Democratic Committee convention that saw some 1,200 delegates gather to endorse New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy as the organization’s preferred choice on the June Primary ballot.

Murphy, who can be seen here speaking with Balwierczak defeated US Congressman Andy Kim by a vote of 738-419.

Democrats also endorsed the reelection of Rep. William “Bill” Pascrell (D-9) for a record fifteenth term. The convention also endorsed four-term incumbent Steve Tanelli for a fifth term along with his running-mate Tracy Silna Zur.

It was the first convention for Balwierczak who met many Democrats from across the 70 communities of Bergen County, the largest of the state’s twenty-one.Balwierczak also can be seen with ex-light heavyweight champion Al Cole, a fellow delegate who portrayed former heavyweight champion Ernie Terrell in the Academy Award nominated biography, Ali.Balwierczak also had the opportunity to speak with New Jersey Congressman Josh Gottheimer, an attorney, writer and representative for the 5th congressional district who is considering a potential run for the Democratic nomination for governor in 2025. The 48-year old Gottheimer is a graduate of Harvard Law School and was a speechwriter for the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama.Gottheimer is the co-author of the book, Power in Words: The Stories Behind Barack Obama’s Speeches, from the State House to the White House.

Both Balwierczak and Yampaglia will be challenging embedded GOP incumbents Brian Fitzhenry and Allison Sheedy who have supported pay raises for themselves as well as the unbridled construction of apartment dwellings along Ridge Road that have urbanized and gentrified North Arlington. The incumbents also support plans to construct even more units along Schuyler Avenue and River Road with little, if any public support or explanation for this explosion of more housing.Balwierczak and Yampaglia are committed to keeping North Arlington small, safe and suburban, rejecting out-of-town real estate interests and ensuring the community remains a gateway to Bergen County.

March 25th is the deadline to file nominating petitions and if you would like to support the North Arlington First team, contact the candidates at 201-655-8497.
